Decided to try Charlie's Tapa's one cold January evening, Great Yarmouth was almost deserted, restaurants were struggling to find customers. This place has 9/10 tables, I think 4 were occupied when we arrived. We had not booked but considering everywhere was empty did not feel the need, if they were full and could not accommodate us that would be fine. 'Have you booked?' asked the waitress, we hadn't. 'We have 2 tables booked, so we cannot give you a table, you could come back in an hour and a half and see if we have room.' By my calculation, that still left 3 or 4 vacant tables, so why they could not serve us is rather odd. To save walking around looking for other restaurants, we went for a Chinese, which was directly opposite Charlie's Tapas. While we ate a party of 6 was the only people that went in Charlie's, so there was always at least 3 tables empty. Why they could not serve us is a mystery, it was only my wife and I, unless the kitchen could not cope with 2 more or they were running short of produce? No idea, anyway we had a nice Chinese!
We had a really good meal this evening. Best of a brilliant selection of dishes were the meatballs in Charlie's sauce, the ribs in Charlie's sauce and the calamari - not to put down the delicious prawns and chicken. The homemade cheesecake (salted caramel this evening) is absolutely delicious, my son thought he was full until he tried a piece of the cheesecake The staff are very friendly and attentive and the restaurant is very nice
Visiting from London for 5 days.Excellent value for money.Recommendations would be the meatballs and Moroccan pork.This place deserves to do very well indeed - there a lot of places in GY that arent serving good food and offering food service. Give this place a try and you shouldnt be disappointed.If we came again we would def visit
Turned up without a booking and managed to get a table! Lucky for us! Tapas was great service was exceptional! The host has amazing skills and hope they carry on doing as they are! Enjoy the fact they keep the table just for one booking a night but think they might be selling themself short!
I went here last night with my girlfriend after hearing good things about the place.... everything I'd heard was right!! The food and service were both first class. We were greeted with a warm welcome and even tho we booked at a busy time the good was served quickly. I will definitely be returning!
