The heating was set to furnace and there was no way to turn it down. The place was decorated in the 70's by someone who loves creepy birds and peeling wallpaper. Speaking of walls they are paper thin so if you want to hear every step, Pipe gurgle or any of the other sounds you really don't want to hear while you are trying to sleep. The reason it gets two stars instead of zero is because the sea view was lovely

Called hotel directly, followed through their info, called 'other ' number explained my confusion as to price, availability Vanessa said would call me. 1hr later I call back. I cheeky asked for upgrade if they were open 24hrs later still awaiting their call or email.

2-4 November Had a great weekend. Staff are very friendly and eager to help. The Food was excellent , Yes the hotel is a little tired but it is clean and welcoming. The rooms are a good size and come with tea coffee also towels shampoo etc Located on the sea front it makes a great base to explore the local area.

The property looks beautiful from the outside and is clean inside. Unfortunately, we got put in a room next to the family from Hell: between 2 and 3 in the morning, little kids running up and down the corridor banging on doors while various shouting occurred. Absolutely awful, and it all started again half an hour before breakfast and carried on during it (bloke from the family shouting into his phone while having the conversation on loudspeaker!!) and after it (noise, shouting in the corridor outside of our room). The hotel need to make money and be inclusive; I understand that. We were unlucky this time, but wont be returning. One of those things.

Really lovely friendly hotel. Staff are really good and can't do enough to help. They really were. The hotel is clean and tidy. The food was excellent and well presented. Served to table with kind and staff who seem to enjoy their job. There are some areas of the hotel which could do with updating but they are in the process of giving it a full face lift. Excellent views from rooms. We had a double suite which was really spacious and had everything one would need for a holiday. Would definitely recommend and give the Nelson Hotel Manger & staff excellent review on their jobs and how they present themselves to the customers.
